All SLV residents are invited to join the tennis community at the annual Tennis party on Friday, February 8. This will be a dinner/dance with live entertainment provide by Pam Bowman, a local blues singer who has sung at several of the Tara House of Blues events. This event is intended to celebrate another fun and successful tennis year at SLV. Additionally it will serve as a fund raiser for the Lady Lakers’ trip to the USTA Nationals in Arizona in April, as a small portion of the ticket sales will be used to help defray the cost of their quest for a national title. We are hoping for a great turn out as Pam Bowman usually sells out at Tara. This venue will be held at the AC. Jerry has promised a great buffet meal. The price of a ticket is only $30 per person for your dinner and entertainment with tax and tip included. If you would like to just come and enjoy Pam’s great singing, then your ticket is only $10 per person. What a great deal! Tickets must be purchased in advance. So come on out on Friday, February 8th and join us for all the fun!! Get your friends and neighbors together and reserve a table soon. Dinner will be at 6pm and Pam will start around 7pm. There will be a cash bar. Get your reservations now by emailing or calling either

The 6.5 Super Senior Women’s Combo team, the Volley Girls, will be
traveling to Daniels Island to compete in the South Carolina Combo State
Championships on October 18-21. The Volley Girls don’t know if they won
the league or came in second receiving a Wild Card to the state
championship because a make-up match among the other 2 teams in the
league has not been played yet. Congratulations to the Volley Girls on a
    great season.

The SLV Lady Lakers 3.5 Super Senior 60’s team competed on Sunday and
clinched the local league championship beating the Gatewood team 2-1.
The Lady Lakers will be traveling to Wild Dunes on November 1-4 to defend
their 2011 state championship. Congratulations to the SLV Lady Lakers
once again for winning their local league and good luck at the SC State

SLV’s 4.0 Super Senior 60’s Men’s Team will also be traveling to Wild
Dunes on November 1-4 to compete at the SC State Championships.

We wish all our SLV teams good luck at the State Championships.

Subject: Grand Opening and Summer Concert – June 6

The Grand Opening for the new clay tennis courts, Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m. The 8 lucky winners of the raffle will play a set and then tennis will be open for anyone wishing to play.

The Summer Concert will begin at 5 p.m. with music by Becky Greene. Becky is new to us, but has been performing with both Jake Bartley and Ashby Stokes and comes to us highly recommended. Becky sings and plays the guitar and is excited to entertain us for the first time.

The gates will open at 3:30 p.m. to make it easy to unload all of your picnic food and drink, so plan on arriving in time for the Grand Opening and staying for the music.

There will be games at the hard courts that everyone will be invited to participate in. No tennis experience is required.

There will also be a FREE Keg of Beer for your enjoyment!

Summer concert tickets are available at the AC front desk. Tickets are free for all Annual and Pool/Bocce Members and just the daily fee for all others.

We hope all the rain is for today and gone tomorrow – cross everything you can!

  7. Subject: Tennis Clinic coming up…

David Staniford will hold a tennis clinic on Saturday, April 28 from 12
p.m. to 1 p.m. Cost of the clinic is $15pp payable at the AC front
desk. This is a great opportunity to learn some tennis technique to
help you win set after set. Well, maybe not every set, but the better
you play the more enjoyment you will get out of this great sport.

There is a sign-up sheet in the Activities Book at the AC front desk.

  8. Subject: Tennis results….

The SLV 3.5 Racquettes won one of their matches at Grand Harbor last
    evening. Way to go ladies!
