Outdoor Adventure Club Kayak Outing on Little River Saturday, November 2
The Outdoor Adventure Club will be going for a kayak paddle on Little River Saturday, November 2. We will be putting in at the Boat Ramp located on Highway 28. The directions to this boat ramp are provided below.
We will put in at 10:00 am, so please be at the boat ramp by that time. You may sign up for this event in the black book at the Recreation Center. Please sign up so that we know who is coming and don’t leave anyone behind. For your planning purposes, our paddles usually last two to three hours.
Be sure you bring your PFD, whistle, copy of your driver’s license, water, sunscreen, hat, and a snack along with your kayak and paddle.
Directions to the Highway 28 Boat Ramp from Highway 7: Follow Hwy 7 from Tara and Shenandoah to Hwy 81. (It is 2.2 miles from Hwy 7 at Huguenot Parkway intersection. Turn right onto Hwy 81 and travel 2.8 miles to Hwy 28. Stay right onto the bridge. The boat
ramp entrance is on the left as you come off the bridge onto Hwy 28.
Directions from Monticello: Proceed to Barksdale Ferry Road. At the 4-way stop sign, turn left if coming from the Savannah Point direction. If coming from Cedar Road or that direction you would turn right onto Barksdale Ferry. If coming from Monticello on Barksdale Ferry continue straight at the stop sign. Take Barksdale Ferry Road to Highway 28 and make a left. Follow Highway 28 for 4.1 miles to the Boat Ramp “Hwy 28” access on your right. You will see a yellow “Y” road sign before the bridge, the entrance to the ramp is immediately after the sign.
