Abbeville Spring Festival – First weekend in May. Court Square – Live music, rides, craft and food vendors, car and flower shows and more.
South Carolina Festival of Flowers – Greenwood, SC – June 1 – June 30th – So much to see and do – tours throughout the city – Park Seed Company – lots of Topiaries around downtown.
The Festival annually brings in well-known talent for the Bluegrass concert on Oregon Avenue in Uptown Greenwood. Headlining the June 21st concert is The Rambling Rocks with opener Adkins and Loudermilk. Also performing at the Festival of Flowers is Greenwood’s own Brown Sugar Substitute for the Uptown Live “Flower Power” Concert on June 19th and the Greenwood Festival Chorale performance of “America: Land That I Love” on June 10th.
The Festival of Stars on June 27 – 28th festures one of the areas most favorite bands – The Swingin’ Medallions. They will be playing in the Park in Ninety six on June 27th. Several generations are now in the band formed by John McElrath many years ago. Go hear great music. Also, on the Festival of Stars are The Night Affair, Bless Yer Heart, Clay Page Band and Fred Engler and Troubleshooters. Information: www.festivalofflowers.org
The Blues Cruise is equally popular as the barbecue competition and food fest is the Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned Festival of Discovery and is July 12th – 14th. Gary Erwin is music coordinator for the Blues Cruise. There are three days of blues starting with the Uptown Live Concert on July 12th. In between festivals everyone has a chance to sample local talent. Most local bands and performers regularly take to the state at bars, clubs and restaurants in Uptown Greenwood and beyond. Huguenot Homecoming August 3rd – Biannual Huguenot Homecoming, Worship services in the John de la Howe School auditorium at 11 a.m. followed by potluck Luncheon and tours of Huguenot sites. For more information contact: County Chamber of Commerce – 864-852-2835
