THE THURMOND LAKE SAIL & POWER SQUADRON

THE THURMOND LAKE SAIL & POWER SQUADRON WILL BE TEACHING THE “BEGINNERS BOATING COURSE” – STARTING July 24!
The “beginners boating class” known as America’s Boating Course (ABC) will give you the knowledge you need to make you a competent and safe skipper! America’s Boating Course covers all aspects of boating: boat handling, docking, right of way, anchoring, aids to navigation, required equipment, state laws, boating emergencies and more. This four day course is taught by the instructors of TLS&PS. This is a great course for new boaters, pwc operators or anyone who has never taken a boating course. Most insurance companies offer a discount for successful completion of the course. This boating safety course is also recognized by DNR and Corp of Engineers.
The ABC course will be taught at the McCormick Public Library at 201 Railroad Avenue (adjacent to post office) in McCormick. All classes will be conducted from 1200 to 1600 hours (12 noon – 4:00 pm).
The first class is Tuesday, July 24.
2nd class will be on Friday, July 27.
3rd class will be on Tuesday, July 31.
The final class which is review and exam will be on Friday, Aug 3.
The Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron is part of the U.S. Power Squadron and is dedicated to promoting boating safety. The cost of taking the ABC course is $25 per single person or $30 for a husband and wife couple. Anyone interested in becoming a member of TLS&PS must complete and pass the America’s Boating Course first. Your first six months of dues will be free.
Prior registration is required to take this course! Sign up now as space is limited. Please call or email Assistant Education Officer: Dave Kloppenburg at 864-391-3795 (dklopp@wctel.net) if you reach Dave’s answering machines – leave a message – he will return your call. sailboat
